Eyes (Aka Shishin no Ken):
This technique was used by Tenshinhan to split himself into four
different parts. Each Tenshinhan created was not just an image like that
created with the Zanzoken but can fight and be attacked. The only
problem with the this move is that each counterpart only had a quarter
of the power and speed than if there was only one.
Who
can use: Tenshinhan, Cell (anime only).
Bakuhatsuha:
By raising two fingers, the user of this attack can create a large
explosion that will totally decimate the surrounding area or the ground
under an opponent.
Who
can use: Nappa, Vegeta.
Bakurikimaha:
Piccolo Daimao's
ultimate Ki attack. This is is an extremely powerful Ki blast shot from
one hand, while the other is gripping the shooting hand's
wrist for support. The time Piccolo shot this one might possibly be the
biggest Ki blast fired in the first series.
Who
can use: Piccolo Daimao.
Barrier:
This
purely defensive technique forms a Ki-shield around the body that
protects the user from Ki or similar attacks. There are two forms of
this maneuver. One is a spherical shield that surrounds the body, the
other is more of a coating of the body.
Who
can use: Frieza, Android #17, Cell, Vegetto.
Big
Bang Attack: One
of the first techniques Vegeta developed as a Super Saiyan. The Big Bang
attack is a huge Ki bolt of incredible destructive power. Vegeta holds
one flat palm forward towards his enemy and launches the bolt.
Who
can use: Vegeta.
Body
Change:
This technique is used by the leader of Ginyu Force, Ginyu. Ginyu
spreads his limbs out, shouts "Change!"
and shoots out a bolt of energy and if it hits its target Ginyu changes
bodies with that person. Ginyu then gains the strength and speed of his
target but not his special techniques or Ki. After changing bodies Ginyu
can still do a Body Change. Ginyu will change bodies with the first
person to hit the beam and thus if someone gets in the way of his
intended target, Ginyu will change bodies with that person instead.
Who
can use: Ginyu.
Bukujutsu:
Not exactly a fighting technique. This is the ability to fly with one's
Ki. Since almost all of the fights in the second series occurred at
least partially in the air, this technique is used all the time during
fights, as well as being used to go from place to place. The only
characters in the first series that could use it since their first
appearances were Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu and Puar. Almost every
one of the other characters learnt to fly eventually and by the time DBZ
comes around every major character could fly.
Who
can use: Anyone who fights in DBZ except Yajirobe and Mr. Satan.
Burning
Attack: Future
Trunks'
trademark Ki attack. This is a powerful energy blast shot from both
hands. Trunks holds both hands forward, does some strange arm movements
and then puts both hands forward again, releasing the blast.
Who
can use: Future Trunks.
Chiaotzu's
Chonoryoku: A
very unique technique. Chiaotzu puts both hands, or a single hand
forward and can manipulate the bodily movements of his opponent to an
extent, providing his opponent is not too powerful. He can stop someone's
movements or cause internal pain with this technique.
Who
can use: Chiaotzu.
Chobakuretsumaha:
This is Piccolo's
ultimate Ki blast. He powers up the blast between the palms of his hands
in front of his chest then releases the blast. Very very powerful. This
blast is known as Gekiretsukodan in the DBZ video games.
Who
can use: Piccolo.
Crasher
Ball:
A lot like the Genki Dama that Goku gave to Krillin, the Crasher Ball is
a Ki-ball that is produced from the palm of the hand. I don't
think one ever actually connected during the series though. It was just
used as a diversion.
Who
can use: Jeice.
Daichiretsuzan:
This is a very powerful attack that Frieza uses. With a swipe of his
hand with two fingers extended, he creates an invisible cutting beam
that goes a long way. Its name comes from the fact that it slices a huge
cut in the earth when he used it.
Who
can use: Frieza
Death
Ball:
This is a small ball of energy which Frieza can create from either the
tip of his finger or with both hands. While small, it is very powerful,
and can even destroy planets.
Who
can use: Frieza
Dodonpa:
One of the major techniques of the Tsurusen-ryu. This is a blast shot
from one finger which explodes upon impact. The most basic Dodonpa is
more powerful than the most basic Kamehameha, but the Kamehameha can
become more powerful. After being defeated by Goku, Tao Pai Pai
developed this technique into the Super Dodonpa.
Who
can use: Tao Pai Pai, Tsurusennin, Chiaotzu, Tenshinhan.
Double
Tsuihikidan: This
is a move that Krillin developed for use during the 23rd Tenkaichi
Budoukai. He shoots a Kamehameha-like blast from each hand and then he
can guide the blasts towards his enemy.
Who
can use: Krillin
Dynamite
Kick:
Mr. Satan's
trademark attack. A charging kick. Being one of Mr. Satan's
attack, this one is pretty much useless. Gotenks used it once too,
(whether or not he was copying Satan is debatable) and it was likewise
useless.
Who
can use: Mr. Satan, Gotenks.
Enemy
transformation:
By shooting an energy field from his head-appendage, Majin Buu can
change the form of his enemy into something else (normally candy or some
other form of food). This is without a doubt Buu's
most common attack.
Who
can use: Majin Buu
Energy
Kyushu: The
trademark technique of Androids #19 and #20. The androids can absorb
energy, either from people's
bodies or their Ki blasts, through the holes in the palms of their
hands. However, without their hands, they cannot perform this technique.
Who
can use: Android#19, Android #20.
Eraser
Cannon:
This is one of the most powerful techniques of Recoome, one of the
members of the Ginyu Force. It is a large, powerful Ki blast shot from
the mouth and can destroy things in a very large radius from the blast
hits.
Who
can use: Recoome
Eye
Beam: Not
a particularly interesting technique but was used enough during the
DB/DBZ series that it deserves to be put here. It is basically a double Ki
blast shot from the eyes. While the blast itself is small, it causes a
huge explosion on impact to do a fair amount of damage and can also be
used to stop other Ki blasts.
Who
can use: Piccolo, Frieza, Android #20.
Frieza
Beam:
This is Frieza's
trademark technique. It is a lot like the Dodonpa, being a beam of
energy shot from one finger, but differs in that it does not explode on
impact. Instead it is a piercing attack which slices and continues
through its target.
Who
can use: Frieza, Cell.
Fusion:
This
technique is used to fuse two people into a single person and give the
fused person a huge power boost. Anyone can do Fusion but you have to
have a similar power level as whoever you fuse with and you must learn
the correct pose and form. It's
easy to make a mistake and fuse into something far weaker though. The
Fusion lasts for 30 minutes before the fused person becomes two again.
The Kaioshins have a special set of Potara Rings which allow people to
fuse without the pose and also lasts forever. Goku and Piccolo know how
to do it without the Potara Rings but never actually did the move.
Who
can use: Goku, Piccolo, Goten, Trunks
Fusenko:
This is a move used by Krillin during the 22nd Tenkaichi Budoukai.
Krillin draws in his breath while falling down then puffs himself up,
slowing his fall. Can be used to gain a good defensive advantage.
Who
can use: Krillin
Galactica
Donut:
This is a Ki attack used by Gotenks to trap his enemies. It is a ring of
Ki energy that Gotenks can control to change the size of the its
diameter. The Donut can be used to surround the enemy and trap him by
holding his limbs within the donut. Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks can use an
adaptation of this attack, the Renzoku Super Donuts.
Who
can use: Gotenks.
Galick
Ho:
The Galick Ho is Vegeta's
answer to the Kamehameha. He powers up the blast like the Kamehameha,
but when he releases the blast, his palms are both up.
Who
can use: Vegeta.
Gekitotsu
Buu Buu Volleyball: A
unique attack used once by Gotenks and Piccolo. After trapping Buu in a
ball with the Renzoku Super Donuts, Gotenks and Piccolo beat the ball
around a bit before spiking it really hard onto the earth.
Who
can use: Gotenks, Piccolo.
Genki
Dama:
One of Goku's
most powerful techniques. The Genki Dama is a large ball of energy
gathered from nature, humans, etc., which lend him their energy.
However, it takes time to gather a Genki Dama and the user has to stick
his arms up in the air during which time he will become open to attack.
Who
can use: Goku
Hankokubikkurisho:
This is a fairly strong Ki attack used by Jackie Chun (Kamesenin/Master
Roshi). He shoots the blast forward using both hands and traps his
victim in a shocking field of energy from which his opponent cannot
escape (normally.) This technique was only used in the 21st Tenkaichi
Budoukai (Dragon Ball Series).
Who
can use: Jackie Chun (Kamesenin/Master Roshi).
Haretsu
no Maho: This
is the magic spell used by Babidi to make people explode. It only works
on weak people though; on tougher fighters like the Z fighters it is
ineffective.
Who
can use: Babidi.
Hell's
Flash:
In order to fire a blast with the most power, Android #16 takes off his
hands, tucks them under his arms and fires a blast from the cannons
under his wrists.
Who
can use: Android #16.
Honoo:
Not
a particularly important technique but this is one of Darbura's
more powerful blasts. It's
just what it says, a powerful breath of fire.
Who
can use: Darbura
Jinruizetsumetsukogeki:
Literally 'Genocide
Attack'.
This is not an attack that can be used in the heat of battle but is
probably one of the single most devastating attacks ever used in the
series. It is a series of Ki blasts shot into the air which seek their
targets upon being fired. After looking down on the Earth from Kami Sama's
Palace, Majin Buu used this technique to kill every human on Earth.
Who
can use: Majin Buu.
Kaioken:
Taught to Goku by North Kaio Sama (King Kai), this is primarily a
power-up move. When Goku uses this technique he flares up and gains a
large boost to his speed and power. Goku can also use multiplied power
to his Kaioken. At first, he shouldn't
have been able to go past 2 x Kaioken without seriously endangering
himself but eventually he can increase the power of the Kaioken to
around a 20 x Kaioken. Note that except in the TV series, Goku doesn't
use his Kaioken as a Super Saiyan.
Who
can use: Goku
Kakusandan:
This
technique was used by Krillin during the fight against Nappa and Vegeta
and is actually somewhat of an adaptation of an attack he used against
Piccolo in the Tenkaichi Budoukai. What he does is he shoots a blast
from each hand. Then he controls the blasts so that they merge and then
he directs it above the heads of his enemies. There upon he splits the
blast again into many smaller Ki bolts which rain down upon his enemies.
A very effective technique which wiped out virtually all of the
Saibaimen.
Who
can use: Krillin
Kakusanyudokodan:
A
potentially devastating maneuver. The user of this attack fires many Ki
bolts (like the Renzoku Energy Dan) around his opponent, surrounding
them, then controls the bolts so they all shoot toward their target.
Who
can use: Piccolo.
Kamehameha:
Quite possibly the most commonly used special technique in all of the
series., The Kamehameha is a technique created by Kamesenin (Mater
Roshi). It is a Ki blast, which to start off is charged up behind the
user in cupped hands then brought forward to release a large blast of
energy. Goku later develops the ability to control the direction of the
blast, shoot one from his feet, or with a single hand. Also Goku later
develops a Cho Kamehameha with even more power than the standard fare.
Goten can use it as well, but mispronounces it as Kamekameha when he
uses it. Look below, most people can use it.
Who
can use: Kamesenin, Goku, Old Son Gohan, Yamcha, Krillin, Tenshinhan,
Gohan, Cell, Cell Junior, Goten and Majin Buu.
The
Generic Ki Blast: This
technique is not particularly special but is used so much in the series
that it at least needs to be mentioned. The Generic Ki Blast is shot
from the hand, and explodes on impact for a lot of damage. This is by
far the most used technique in the series next to standard punches and
kicks. It is obviously an easy technique to perform.
Who
can use: All except Yajirobe and Mr. Satan
Kiai:
This
technique is used simply by yelling really loud; it disperses weaker Ki
attacks.
Who
can use: Tenshinhan, Dai Kaioshin.
Kiaiho:
An invisible force attack that knocks one's
opponent back. It can be shot either from an open palm or from the eyes.
Who
can use: Goku, Frieza.
Kienzan:
This is another attack that is used quite frequently during the second
series. It is a flat, disc-shaped Ki blast which can be used to slice
through its target with deadly accuracy. The Kienzan can also be
controlled by the user.
Who
can use: Krillin, Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, Android #18.
Kikoho:
This is Tenshinhan's
strongest Ki blast. Tenshinhan puts the tips of his fingers together
forming kind of an "O"
between his fingers and his thumbs. Then he shoots a very powerful Ki
blast through the "O"
at his opponent. While this attack is very powerful it is also extremely
damaging to Tenshinhan and can kill him if he uses it too much. Later on
Tenshinhan develops this technique to become the Shinkikoho, which is
even stronger.
Who
can use: Tenshinhan, Cell (anime only), Cell Junior (anime only).
Ki
no Tsurugi: Literally
"Sword
of Ki".
This is a Ki beam that shoots out somewhat as an extension of the hand
and can be swung and stabbed to cut or pierce enemies. The length of the
beam can be controlled by the user.
Who
can use: Vegetto
Koshoku:
Coming from the planet of darkness Yakon can eat light using this
technique. In fact he cause Goku to go from Super Saiyan to normal by
eating his light.
Who
can use: Yakon
Kyodaika:
This is a technique used by Piccolo during the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai.
With this technique Piccolo can grow his body to a huge size making the
range and strength of his blows much more effective. This makes him a
larger target as well.
Who
can use: Piccolo.
Makankosappo:
One
of Piccolo's
most powerful techniques. This is a penetrating blast shot from two
fingers. It is actually two blasts, one going straight ahead and the
other coiling around the first for drilling power. This attack drills
through everything it hits and eventually blows up when it hits
something big enough, such as a mountain.
Who
can use: Piccolo, Cell, Cell Junior, Majin Buu.
Makosen:
This
is a Ki blast that is used by Piccolo Daimao. He gathers Ki into both
his arms then fires a blast from each, one after the other. Not a
particularly powerful attack when compared to some of the later moves
but it almost killed Goku once.
Who
can use: Piccolo Daimao
Masenko:
This is Gohan's
trademark energy blast and is fairly powerful. Gohan powers up a blast
over his head with both his hands, one palm behind the other, then
brings his hands down in front of him to fire the blast. Gohan used
this blast fairly often during the second series especially during the
Frieza saga.
Who
can use: Gohan
Mystic
Attack:
This is an attack first used by Piccolo during the Tenkaichi Budoukai.
Using the Namek ability to extend their arms, he extended his arm at
his enemy from a distance thus surprising them. Once Piccolo grabs his
opponent he draws them back for
an
attack like a punch, kick, Ki blast or anything else he wants to do.
Who
can use: Piccolo, Nail, Majin Buu.
Papparapar:
This
is a magic spell that Babidi can use to teleport people in his
spaceship. Actually he teleports the entire room with the people in it
to another place.
Who
can use: Babidi.
Rogafufuken:
This attack is Yamcha's
trademark technique. After preparing himself in a special stance he
attacks with many claw-like punches and kicks then finally finishing
off with a double-fisted claw-punch. After training with Kamesenin,
Yamcha improved on this technique to become the Shin Rogafufuken.
Who
can use: Yamcha
Rolling
Satan Punch: Satan
curls up into a ball, rolls along the ground, then punches his
opponent. Being one of Satan's
attack, this one is pretty much useless in a real fight.
Who
can use: Mr. Satan
Renzoku
Energy Dan: While
many characters can use this technique the undisputed master of this
technique is Vegeta. The user of this technique can shoot Ki bolts
continuously from his hands resulting in somewhat of a machine-gun Ki
blast effect. While the individual blasts are not particularly
powerful, the effect of many can be devastating.
Who
can use: Vegeta, Goku, Gohan, Piccolo.
Renzoku
Shine, Shine Missile:
This is Gotenks'
adaptation of the Renzoku Energy Dan technique. Basically the same but
a whole lot more powerful.
Who
can use: Gotenks.
Recoome
Kick:
A charging knee blow used by Recoome of the Ginyu Force.
Who
can use: Recoome
Recoome
Mahha Attack:
This punch is the equivalent of his Kick. The Recoome Mahha Attack is
basically a charging punch.
Who
can use: Recoome
Saiko
no Kogeki: Literally
"Ultimate
Attack".
This is the Ki blast that Nappa shoots out of his mouth. It is very
powerful.
Who
can use: Nappa.
Satan
Special Ultra Super Megaton Punch: Mr.
Satan's
"Ultimate"
attack. Really just a normal punch. Mr. Satan forgot the name of this
attack almost as soon as he had made it. Used against Android #18 in
the 25th Tenkaichi Budoukai.
Who
can use: Mr. Satan
Sekikatsuba:
This is one of Darbura's
useful attacks. His saliva will turn whatever it hits into stone, be
it alive or not. The only way to reverse the petrified state is to
kill Darbura.
Who
can use: Darbura.
Shogekiha:
This
is almost exactly like the Kiaiho. It is an invisible blast shot from
the eyes but is a little more versatile and can be shot from any part
of the body. Piccolo can adapt this attack to radiate from the whole
of his entire body.
Who
can use: Piccolo, Kaioshin, Majin Buu.
Shunkanido:
Not a fighting technique but often used to gain a tactical advantage
in a fight. The Shunkanido is a teleport. The user places two fingers
on his forehead, searches for a place he wants to go to then when he
finds it he can teleport there. It is not a technique that one can
teleport to wherever he pleases. People assume that is the case.
Concentrate!
Who
can use: Goku, Cell, Kibito, Kaioshin (after merging with Kibito),
Majin Buu.
Super
Ghost Kamikaze Attack:
One of Gotenks'
strongest techniques. He spits out a ghost-like form closely
resembling himself. The ghostlike form has a mind of its own and when
it hits anything it explodes, severely damaging whatever is caught in
the blast.
Who
can use: Gotenks, Majin Buu.
Taiyoken:
This technique was originally Tenshinhan's.
The user puts his hands in front of his face and lights up very bright
so much that he blinds his opponent for awhile. This technique was
used a lot throughout Dragon Ball Z (especially to escape).
Who
can use: Tenshinhan, Goku, Krillin, Cell.
Time
stop:
This is an attack used by Guldo, the smallest member of the Ginyu
Force. He uses it to freeze time for his opponents so that they are
frozen in whatever position they were in. However he needs to keep his
attention on his victims in order to keep them frozen. Guldo also has
the power to stop time completely, but for only a moment, and he can't
do it for too many times without tiring himself out.
Who
can use: Guldo
Udebunrikogeki:
The
user of this technique pulls a piece of flesh off his body and
controls it to attack his opponent in some way. Naturally, only Majin
Buu can use this technique.
Who
can use: Majin Buu
Yokaieki:
This is a technique used by the Saibaimen. They split their heads into
two and shoot a stream of acid from it, which can be very damaging if
it hits its target.
Who
can use: Saibaimen
Zanzoken:
Another
technique created by Kamesenin. With this technique, the user can move
so fast that he leaves an after-image while attacking from another
standpoint. Goku can also leave multiple images. This technique was
later learnt by everyone who can manipulate Ki. Kamesenin also created
a way to leave several images at once.
Who
can use: All the Z warriors except for Yajirobe, Mr. Satan and Videl.
